A Ford Specialist will generally specialise in the supply, sale, repair or servicing of any type of Ford.

Founded in 1903 by Henry Ford, the company now sells commercial vehicles and car under the Ford brand, as well as luxury cars under the Lincoln brand. Ford also had interests in the production of tractors, heavy trucks and other automotive components. Ford also has stakes in other car manufacturers such as Aston Martin and Mazda.

Ford has a huge presence in Europe and in the UK and up until 2002, Ford had produced cars in the UK. Until that point it was the first time in 90 years that cars were no assembled in the UK. Some production does continue, with Transit vans being produced in Ford's plant in Southampton, engines are still being produced in Dagenham and Bridgend and transmission systems in Halewood. Ford mainly focus on the vehicle development in the UK with a large testing and development facility based in Dunton, Essex. Here they develop and test many components including vehicle powertrains as well as vehicles ranges such as the Fiesta and Ka.

In Europe at the end of 2010, Ford was the fifth largest car manufacturer and the second largest in the U.S. Worldwide, (as of 2011) Ford employs over 164,000 staff, and had a total revenue of over $136 billion dollars.
